Ben Strong scores 27 points in NBA D-League Playoff opening game

(Des Moines, IA) – Iowa Energy center Ben Strong (Red Lake tribe) had a dominating performance last night in the opening game of the playoffs against the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the number one and number eight seeds, in the NBA developmental league. Even though Strong scored a game and team high 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds against the L.A. D-Fenders it was not enough to top the them as the Energy suffered the first loss of the series 114-103.

Iowa coach Kevin Young said, “I thought he was arguably the best player out there, and that’s saying a lot with their team. They had no answer for him down low.

Ben Strong had made the playoffs during three seasons of play in Israel, but this was his first professional postseason experience in the U.S., and the 6-foot-11 Energy center responded. “I’m really amped about it,” Strong said after scoring 27 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. “I’m excited about going out to L.A.. I’ve never been there before. I’ve got a couple of friends out there.”

With the Energy on the ropes, they will travel to Los Angeles this Saturday to try and even the best of 3 game series.
