ALBUQUERQUE – November 1, 2016 – The Fort Lewis College women’s basketball team faced the University of New Mexico Lobos Tuesday night in an exhibition game. The Lobos downed the Skyhawks 101-48 at the WisePies Arena.
Briana Clah (Navajo) was the lone Skyhawk to score in double figures. Clah made 6 of 12 field goals and all four three-point field goal attempts for 16 points while grabbing three rebounds. Kaitlyn Romero came off the bench to add nine points, three rebounds and two assists. Ande Lampert notched six points, five rebounds and an assist.
The Skyhawks were held to an 11.8 field goal shooting mark in the first quarter (2 of 17) but hit 5 of 16 in the second quarter for 31.3 percent. They finished the game making 17 of 75 shots (22.7 percent) and 7 of 20 three-point field goals.
Five Lobos scored at least 10 points with Cherise Beynon leading all scorers with 20 points.
The Skyhawks will open their season Nov. 11-12 at the Conference Challenge Event in Portales, N.M.
