Bronson Koenig (Ho-Chunk) Scores 10 Points as Badgers roll past UW-River Falls in exhibition

MADISON, Wis. — In its lone exhibition of the season, the Wisconsin men’s basketball team raced out to an early lead and never looked back in its 101-46 win over UW-River Falls on Wednesday night at the Kohl Center.

Redshirt freshman Ethan Happ caught the eye of the spectators in the Kohl Center with an impressive double-double performance, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Freshmen Alex Illikainen and Charlie Thomas also showed promise in the preseason warm-up. Illikainen and Thomas both finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Another year older and another year wiser couldn’t apply more to returning starters Bronson Koenig (Ho-Chunk Nation) and Nigel Hayes — both of whom ended in double digits. Hayes finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and a game high six assists, while Koenig added 10 points, three rebounds and three assists.

The Badgers are back in action for their regular season opener against Western Illinois at the Kohl Center on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.
