Broson Koenig (Ho-Chunk) and Wisconsin will face Coastal Carolina as No. 1 seed in West Region

CHICAGO — The Wisconsin men’s basketball team (31-3) received the No. 1 seed in the West Region and will face 16th-seeded Coastal Carolina (24-9) in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament on Friday at CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The game will tip off at approximately 8:20 p.m. CT and be televised by TBS.

Wisconsin is making its 17th-consecutive trip to the Big Dance. This is the first time Wisconsin has drawn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

UW is 2-0 all-time against Coastal Carolina, including a 92-54 win in the teams’ last meeting in 2005.

Wisconsin owns a 29-19 record all-time in the NCAA tournament, including a 20-13 mark under head coach Bo Ryan, who has led the Badgers to NCAA bids in each of his 14 seasons in Madison.

The winner of the second-round matchup will face the winner of a game between No. 8 seed Oregon and No. 9 seed Oklahoma State in the third round on Sunday, March 22.

The Badgers are a No. 1 seed after earning a No. 2 seed and winning the West Regional to advance to the Final Four last season. UW also made the Sweet 16 in 2011 and 2012. UW has earned a top-six seed in 12 of its 14 NCAA tournament appearances under Ryan.

Bronson Koeing (Ho-Chunk Nation) will appearing in his second consectuive NCAA tournament after the Badgers made it all the way to the Final Four last season, where he scored a 1st half game-high of 11 points off the bench for Wisconsin.

This is the ninth time the Badgers have earned a top-five seed under Ryan, going 7-1 in the first round when seeded fifth or higher.

Coastal Carolina, which makes its second-consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, earned an automatic bid with an 81-70 win over Winthrop in the Big South championship game on March 8.

Important news regarding NCAA tournament tickets
The Wisconsin Athletic Ticket Office will accept requests for second/third round NCAA tournament tickets beginning Sunday, March 15 at 7 p.m., and ending Monday, March 16 at 1 p.m. online at UWBadgers.com. For your convenience, requests will also be accepted by phone on Monday, March 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. by calling 1-800-GO-BADGERS. Requests will only be accepted from 2014 donors to Wisconsin Athletics and current men’s basketball season ticket holders.

Patrons will be notified via e-mail as to the status of their request on Monday afternoon. Patrons who make requests but do not receive an e-mail notification regarding their request should contact the Athletic Ticket Office. No conditional ticket requests will be accepted based on ticket price, seat location, etc. If a request is granted, no refunds are available.

If tickets remain after the initial offering to donors and men’s basketball season ticket holders, tickets will be sold to the general public beginning at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 16. If there is a general public ticket sale, fans can purchase tickets online at UWBadgers.com or by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BADGERS.

Second round tickets are $ 100 or $76, depending on location. If Wisconsin advances, third round tickets will also be $100 or $76. Patrons will automatically receive third round tickets if Wisconsin wins its second round game. If Wisconsin does not win its second round game, patrons will not receive tickets for the third round.
