The Buffalo Bandits today announced that the team will host “Native American Night” at the team’s home game on Saturday, March 21 against the Minnesota Swarm.
Special activities for the night will include traditional Native American music and dance ceremonies.
The night will be highlighted by the presentation of a $1,000 scholarship to a student of Native American descent living in Western New York or Southern Ontario. The Bandits are currently accepting applications for the scholarship, which is open only to students currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
A selection committee comprised of members of the Buffalo Bandits organization will choose the scholarship winner. The winner will be notified and should be available to accept the scholarship at a ceremony held at the Bandits game at First Niagara Center on March 21.
Those eligible to apply for the Buffalo Bandits Native American Scholarship should send an application along with the following:
•Completed application form (CLICK HERE FOR THE FORM)
•A copy of the student’s most recent transcripts
•A letter of recommendation from a faculty sponsor or employer
•A brief essay one (1) page in length describing why the student should be awarded this scholarship and what it would mean to him/her.
