San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski (Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma)has been playing very well in recent weeks, and Week 26 was no exception.
With two goals in a 3-3 road draw against the Portland Timbers on Sunday, Wondo earned top honors in the Castrol Index Weekly Top 20.
One of Wondolowski’s opponents in the game, Timbers’ midfielder Diego Valeri (No. 4), also made the Top 5, on the back of his three-assist performance.
Rounding out the Top 5 for the week is Houston Dynamo forward Giles Barnes (No. 2), who scored two goals in a win over the Montreal Impact, LA Galaxy’s Gyasi Zardes (No. 3), who broke the all-time Homegrown scoring record in a season in a commanding 6-0 win over the Colorado Rapids, and Zardes’ teammate Brian Rowe (No. 5), who stepped up in Jaime Penedo’s absence to keep a clean sheet vs. Colorado.
Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath has the distinction of reaching the Top 20 in consecutive slots (Nos. 12 and 13), in a rare double-game week against the same opponent, Toronto FC.
