Coleman Caldwell (Choctaw) Top Finisher for USF Golf at Quarry Oaks Collegiate

ASHLAND, Neb. – Despite windy conditions, Sioux Falls men’s golf held their position to finish ninth at the Quarry Oaks Collegiate on Sunday. Coleman Caldwell (Choctaw Tribe) was the top finisher for the Cougars, tying for eighth, and Ben Loosbrock moved into the top 20 as an individual.

The Cougars recorded a two-day total of 636 (311-325), which was 68 over par. Minnesota State combated the wind to overtake four teams for a victory at 606 (302-304). Mitch Holm led wire-to-wire and finished at 146 (70-76).

Caldwell followed up his day-one 72 with a 79 in round two to finish in a tie for eighth at 151 for the two-day tournament. Loosbrock, who competed as an individual, finished at 155 (77-78), which moved him up eight spots to tie for 20th.

Jon Van’t Hul shaved off eight strokes form his day one score to total a 160 (84-76) and tie for 41st. Derek Dillon suffered a tough second round and carded a 164 (76-88) for the tournament, placing him 55th.
Talon Eich was the fourth Cougar to score, finishing with a 169 (79-90), which tied him for 62nd. Andrew Nelson was three spots behind Eich after improving seven strokes on day two to record a 171 (89-82).

Brett Korn and Josh Atkins also competed as individuals for the Cougars, placing 69th and 80th, respectively. Korn turned in a 173 (83-90) and Atkins finished at 191 (90-101).

The Cougars return to action at the Upper Iowa Invitational in Waterloo, Iowa on April 3.
