Colorado College’s Eric Houska and CooXooEii Black (Northern Arapaho) received all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors Saturday at the league’s 2018 postseason championship at Reid Arena.
Houska earned a spot on the first team for the second year in a row, while Black was a second-team selection in the ballot of the SCAC’s head coaches.
Senior guard John Hatch received honorable-mention accolades.
Black finished the regular season ranked second in the conference with a team-leading 8.8 rebounds per game average. His 15.8 scoring average was 10th in the SCAC and second on the team.
A product of Lander, Wyo., Black led the Tigers with eight double-doubles (points-rebounds).
He also was one of the league’s most accurate shooters, finishing the regular-season ranked second in field-goal percentage (.555) and 10th from the free-throw line (.770).
In less than two seasons, Black already ranks among the program’s all-time leaders with 650 points (No. 51) and 333 rebounds (No. 36).
Going to College and Succeeding Academically and receiving Honors at Basketball are goals that have been met by CooXooEii Black. I am very Proud of him!!! I know he will continue to strive for his bigger goals and I can hardly wait to see that day!!
