Aaron Acosta and CooXooEii Black (N. Arapaho) scored 18 points apiece, but Colorado College was unable to match Texas Lutheran’s three-point shooting in a 71-57 loss to the Bulldogs on Saturday night.
Trailing by nine points after 20 minutes, Acosta’s three-pointer 8:09 into the second half capped a 12-2 surge that gave CC a 41-40 lead.
The advantage lasted just 21 seconds because on TLU’s next possession, senior Jacob Kouremetis knocked down a three-pointer from the right wing to ignite a 21-2 run that put the Bulldogs ahead to stay.
The Tigers cut their deficit to 12 when Black scored on a layup with 4:09 to play, but would not get any closer.
Colorado College slipped to 7-15 overall and 3-10 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and lost more ground in the battle for the sixth and final spot in the league’s postseason tournament when Trinity University defeated Centenary College.
