Dallas Wings announce the team has invited former University of Louisville guard Jude Schimmel to the organization’s inaugural training camp

Arlington, TX., April 18, 2016 – The Dallas Wings announced today the team has invited Marist College center Tori Jarosz and former University of Louisville guard Jude Schimmel to the organization’s inaugural training camp. The Wings open training camp on April 24.

“We were seeking a talented front court player to join our camp and Tori fills that need,” Wings General Manager Greg Bibb stated. “Having played for Coach Brian Giorgis at Marist, I know she will come into camp ready to compete and I’m eager to see how her game translates at the WNBA level. We also wanted to ensure we had enough depth at the guard position and we feel fortunate to have the opportunity to add Jude to our training camp roster. I’m excited to see her compete.”

The 6-3 Jarosz joins the Wings after completing an award-winning senior campaign with the Red Foxes. Jarosz was recently named the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Year after leading the conference in scoring at 18.8 points per game and tying for the conference’s top rebounding effort at 12.1 rebounds per outing.

The Cortlandt Manor, NY native also finished first in the conference with a 49.0 field-goal percentage, 3.0 blocked shots per game, and 9.3 defensive rebounds per contest. Jarosz was an unanimous selection to the All-MAAC First Team.

The 5-6 Schimmel enters the Wings training camp after completing her collegiate career with the Louisville Cardinals in 2015. While there, she tallied 711 career points and 211 steals. She closed her career with three-straight double-digit scoring efforts in the NCAA tournament, and finished her season with the Cardinals as part of a senior class that is winningest in Louisville women’s basketball history (112-31).

  1. Yea for Jude. Wonderful player and great person. Watched her play for four years. Sometimes my husband and I were the only fans at the away games. She should have been drafted last year. Smart basketball player, can see the floor well plays with heart and never gives up! You go girl!!
