GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Arizona Christian University women’s basketball team (5-2) lost a close non-conference contest to the Redhawks of the University of Benedictine at Mesa (3-1) Wednesday night, 63-59 inside the ACU Events Center.
Thoughts from Coach:
After the loss, Head Coach Rusty Rogers said, “I’m really just really disappointed about the lack of effort today on our part. I felt like we didn’t play hard at all until crunch time, and then it was too little too late. We just have to do a better job of coming out of the gate with some kind of energy in and purpose, and today we certainly didn’t play with it. Very disappointing, but hopefully we can bounce back on Saturday.”
Game Details:
The loss moves ACU’s all-time record against BENU to a narrow 5-4. Both teams combined to total 45 turnovers in the contest. The Redhawks pulled ahead late in the third period and led by as many as 12 points, and despite ACU’s late comeback to get within three points with just 20 seconds remaining, BENU would golf off the late surge to earn the four-point win, 63-59.
