by GLENDALE, Ariz. – Monday afternoon, the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) announced that women’s basketball forward, Des Gonzalez (Navajo), had been named its first GSAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The Kingman, Ariz. native helped lead the Firestorm to a 1-1 record last week, including a huge win over the No.4-ranked team in the nation, The Master’s University. In those two games, she averaged 14.5 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.
So far this season she is averaging a double-double with 15.1 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, and is leading her team in both categories. Behind her hot start to the season, the Firestorm are off to a 6-2 overall record and begin conference play later this week against William Jessup on Fri., Jan. 15 at 2:30 p.m. Arizona Time.
