POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State men’s basketball team made a school-record 20 pointers en route to a 103-68 win over Bethesda on Saturday night in Reed Gym.
The Bengals were 20-38 from the three-point line and were led by Jared Rodriguez’s 24 points and 12 rebounds. Rodriguez was 8-15 from the field and 6-11 from the three-point line. Emmit Taylor III had 17 points and was 5-7 from the three-point line.
AJ Burgin scored 15 points on 3-4 three-point shooting.
Idaho State outrebounded Bethesda 49-24 and had 26 assists to only 12 turnovers.
ISU led for all but 30 seconds of the game. Its biggest lead of the game was 35 points in the final minutes.
Idaho State led 51-36 at halftime. Bethesda stayed within 15 points at 63-48 with 13:25 left in the game. ISU then went on a 9-2 to extend its lead to 72-50 with 10:48 remaining in the game.
The lead was later extended to 84-58 after Taylor connected on a three-pointer with six minutes remaining. Another Taylor 3-pointer with 3:36 to play put the Bengals on top 95-64. Kurt Karstetter hit the record-breaking 3-pointer with 2:38 left in the game to give the Bengals the 101-66 lead.
