SEATTLE – Washington showed the difference two days can make, as it looked like a wholly different team compared to Friday, pressuring from the service line and dominating on offense in a 25-15, 25-17, 25-22 sweep of visiting Utah. The Huskies improved to 19-9 and 11-7 in Pac-12 play with one week left in the regular season.
The Huskies treated the 2,690 fans in Alaska Airlines Arena to a .414 attack percentage and seven aces in the sweep of the Utes, getting payback for an earlier 3-0 loss in Salt Lake City.
Senior All-American Claire Hoffman hammered 20 kills in just three sets, hitting .412. Emoni Bush had her best match since coming back from an ankle injury, as she had 13 kills on a .444 attack percentage with an ace. Marin Grote also put away 10 kills on 16 swings for a .562 attack percentage.
Lauren Bays had 12 digs and several big serving runs as she had four of UW’s seven aces. Ella May Powell passed out 39 assists with 10 digs, and Shannon Crenshaw added 11 digs.
On Bush’s big day, Cook said, “It’s been a long climb back from that injury, and she wasn’t feeling great coming into this match, and I thought that she demonstrated a lot of courage, and took a lot of great swings. Just needed to be reminded of who she was, and she can be that kind of force on the outside for sure.”
