Fayetteville State’s Angelica Locklear, a freshman from Pembroke, NC, was named the CIAA Softball Week #6 Food Lion Defensive Player of the Week. The first baseman collected a career-high 13 putouts in the Broncos’ 9-8 victory over Johnson C. Smith. Fayetteville State had a total of 21 putouts and 17 assists.
Locklear has participated in 25 games so far this season and has a season’s total of 194 putouts and eight assists from the first base position. She holds a fielding average of .981 with only four errors. Angelica has been involved in nine double plays.
