CHICAGO – Voting is open for Oral Roberts junior forward (Haida Tribal Member) Damen Bell-Holter for 2012 GEICO Play of the Year, Intersport announced today. Each week for eight weeks, fans voted for the GEICO Play of the Year at the official Facebook page (facebook.com/BestofCollegeBasketball). Fans will now vote among the eight winners to crown the 2012 GEICO Play of the Year which will be announced on GEICO presents Best of College Basketball 2012 on CBS March 25, at 1 P.M. ET.
In addition to recognizing the season’s top plays, the one-hour CBS special will relive the season’s greatest moments, players and traditions. The show also marks the culmination of the GEICO Best of 2012 Basketball Tour, an interactive fan experience that visits 10 marquee games throughout the basketball season.
Bell-Holter won week three voting for his game-winning 3-point bomb against UA-Little Rock. To vote for Bell-Holter and to watch him and the other finalists in action, visit: (facebook.com/BestofCollegeBasketball). Voting for the finals opened today and ends Monday, March 5 at 1 P.M. ET.
With only seconds remaining and both teams assuming overtime, Bell-Holter stole a long inbound pass from UA-Little Rock. He took a few dribbles and heaved a last-second prayer from beyond the half-court line. Miraculously, the shot banked in causing Bell-Holter and his teammates to erupt.
