ATLANTA, Ga. – Another week, another Collegiate Conference of the South award for Belhaven Women’s Basketball standout Shantashia John who pulled in her fifth CCS Rookie of the Week nod on Monday.
John continued her impressive debut campaign for the Blazers last week helping Belhaven to a 2-1 start to the inaugural CCS campaign. In three games, which included a 21-point win over Agnes Scott and a 30-point win over Wesleyan, John led the Blazers averaging 20.3 points per game.
John finished with a game-high 31 points in Belhaven’s tough 88-87 loss to Piedmont on Tuesday and followed that with two incredibly efficient scoring performances against Agnes Scott and Wesleyan. She finished with 16 points in just eight minutes of action in the Blazers 74-53 win over the Scotties before grabbing 14 points in just 14 minutes of play in a 30-point rout of the Wolves the next day.
Along with her scoring exploits the freshman pulled down 4.3 rebounds per contest, provided 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting 58% from the field. On the year John leads the conference averaging 23.3 points per game along with 4.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3.3 steals per contest.
