ALAMOSA, Colo. – February 20, 2018 – Fort Lewis College sophomore guard Kayla Herrera (Chippewa)led the women’s basketball team to a 78-64 win at Adams State University Tuesday night. Herrera scored a career high 36 points after making 11-of-15 field goals, 5-of-6 three-point field goals, and 9-of-10 free throws.
The win improves FLC to 20-7 on the season and 14-7 in league games.
Herrera’s 36 points are tied for the most points scored in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference this season, and the fourth most ever scored by a Skyhawk in a game.
Jordan Carter also had a career night, netting 16 points on 6-of-11 field goals and 4-of-7 free throws.
FLC finished the game making 25-of-50 field goals, 6-of-11 three-point field goals and 22-of-31 from the charity stripe. The Skyhawks outrebounded ASU, 37-33, and outscored ASU’s bench, 30-11.
The Skyhawks will close out the regular season at home on Saturday, Feb. 24 against Westminster College at 5:30 p.m.
