WALLACE, N.C. – Freshman Stormy Randazzo (Creek/Seminole) led the Marshall women’s golf team to fifth place at the River Landing Classic after she posted a 1-under-par 71 in the third round for a final score of 1-under 215.
“I’m proud of the way we played in this tournament, since it was a huge improvement from the first event,” head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. “We had under par rounds from freshmen today and that’s exactly what we needed. Marshall women’s golf is going in the right direction and I’m excited about the rest of the future.”
The freshman’s round was highlighted by the back-nine, where Randazzo birdied on three holes, including consecutive birdies on the 13th and 14th holes. The score helped Marshall finish in fourth place with a score of an 18-over 882. Freshman Kerri Parks also posted a score of 1-under 71 to help earn a top 15 finish, as she finished the tournament in a tie for 12th. Parks earned her score of 71 by making birdies in three of the last four holes. Parks’ final score was a 4-over 220. Sophomore Shelby Brauckmuller earned a 1-over 73 in the final round to help her finish in a tie for 21st after she finished the River Landing Classic with a score of 221.
aking home the trophy was No. 50 Campbell, which posted a 7-under 857. Trailing Campbell was No. 31 East Carolina after it posted a score of 4-over 868. Individually, Rutgers’ Emily Mills beat Memphis’ Emily Goldenstein by one stroke with a score of 5-under 212.
