Lubbock, Texas — With Texas Tech’s fall schedule behind them, Gabby Barker (Shoshone-Paitue) has been named to the ANNIKA award watch list.
Sophomore Gabby Barker has exploded on the scene this year. The sophomore from Caldwell, Idaho has already recorded three top-four finishes in just three appearances this fall. Barker earned co-champion honors at the Jim West Challenge before winning her first career individual title at the Betsy Rawls Invitational on Oct., 20th.
Barker has posted a 7-0-1 record against top-50 opponents this season including a 5-0 mark against those ranked in the top-25. GolfStat has listed Barker as the nation’s No. 8 women’s collegiate golfer, after being ranked No. 1 the previous two weeks.
The ANNIKA Award Presented by 3M honors the player of the year in college women’s golf, as selected by a group of college golfers, coaches and members of the golf media.
While the fall slate of matches for the Lady Raiders has come to a close, Texas Tech will return to action in the spring. The first match for the Lady Raiders will be on Feb., 14-16 when Tech will travel to Puerto Rico for the 2015 Puerto Rico Classic.
