Gabby Barker (Shoshone/Paiute) Leads 114th Pacific Northwest Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament

— Gabby Barker (Shoshone/Paiute)) fired a 5-under 66 in her second round to earn medalist honors in stroke-play qualifying at the Pacific Northwest Women’s Amateur on Wednesday at BanBury Golf Course. The Texas Tech golfer also had a first-round 68 and has the No. 1 seed going into single-elimination match play where a field of 32 includes golfers from Idaho, California, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Canada, New Zealand and the Philippines. Notables who advanced to match play are former Idaho state high school champion and current Oregon State golfer Haley Nist (Bishop Kelly High) of Meridian; Princess Mary Superal of the Philippines, the reigning U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur champion; Gigi Stoll of Tigard, Ore., the 2014 and 2015 Women’s Oregon Amateur champion and 2014 PNGA Women’s Player of the Year; and Alivia Brown of Gig Harbor, Wash., champion of the 2015 Washington State Women’s Amateur.
