Haskell Indian Nations University Runners Sweep Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Weekly Awards

Top-10 finishes by Haskell Indian Nations University (Kansas) junior Jaiven Hale and sophomore Tiajhae Nez have led to Continental Athletic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week honors.

Hale, the Men’s Runner of the Week, placed sixth at the 2022 Emporia State Invitational in Kansas last Saturday with a CAC season-best 26:33 time across the 8-kilometer course. He was the highest NAIA finisher in the race, trailing only four runners from NCAA Division II’s Emporia State University and one of the top junior college runners in the country.

Haskell Indian Nations earned a runner-up team finish in the men’s meet.

Nez, the Women’s Runner of the Week, posted a CAC season-best 19:53.94 to finish second at the Emporia State Invitational. She finished just behind a Division II runner from Emporia State who was running on her home course. Nez, a native of Kirtland, New Mexico, helped Haskell Indian Nations women’s team place third in the meet.
