Haskell Indian Nations University Sign Two for 2012-13 Women’s Basketball Class

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Haskell women’s basketball coach Shane Flanagan is proud to announce the signings of what he expects to be two impact players to his 2012-12 basketball roster. Jenine Coriz and Jennah Williams will enroll at Haskell and be members of the Indian women’s basketball team starting in the fall.

Coriz is a 5-5 point guard from Santa Fe, N.M., and brings many accolades with her from her previous college and high school. The Cochiti Pueblo member comes to Haskell from New Mexico Highlands University, where she played in 10 games her freshman season, netting 18-points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out nine assists.

“Jenine is really well known in New Mexico and is a very good player,” explained Head Coach Shane Flanagan. “She can really handle the basketball and it is always good to have a point guard that has a good balance of the game.”

During her high school years (2007-11), Coriz attended the Santa Fe Indian School, where she led the Braves to three state championships in Class 3-A. It was during that run that she amassed numerous honors including three-time All-State and as a McDonald’s All-American nominee. The star-player was also a standout in the classroom, winding up on the honor roll all four years.

The second signing for Coach Flanagan is Jennah Williams out of Anadarko High School in Anadarko, Okla., where she led the Warriors to a 29-1 record and the 2012 4-A State Championship.

“She comes from a very good program and is well coached,” Flanagan said about his new player. “She fills a need because she blocks out and is a rebounder and will come in and help out right away.”
