(Lincoln, Illinois) – Haskell Indian Nations used a strong start and even stronger finish to pick up an 88-64 win against Voorhees College. The Indians jumped out to a 21-11 lead after the first quarter, then outscored their South Carolina-based opponent 34-18 in the fourth quarter.
Janee Bates scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Haskell Indian Nations. Sierra Penn added 16 points, while Nykki Benally had 15 points and Kasey Rice scored 13 points to round out the team’s balanced offensive attack.
Haskell Indian Nations shot 48.3 percent from the floor and outscored Voorhees 21-to-6 at the free throw line.
Nijah Davis scored 21 points and Ca’washa Ceasar added 16 points for Voorhees.
