(Lawrence, Kansas) – The Haskell Indian Nations University women’s basketball team (20-6, 9-3) find themselves clinging onto the receiving votes (RV) portion of the NAIA Week 9 National poll rankings.
Despite beating two top 20 teams in the span of two weeks, the Lady Indians find themselves as the gatekeepers to the Coaches Top 25 poll by receiving only three votes this week.
Currently, the Midlands Collegiate Athletics Conference (MCAC) has the second most teams in the national rankings, making it the second toughest conference to play in and Haskell currently sits tied for second with a pair of upcoming road games coming up this weekend to finish out the regular season before heading to the MCAC conference tournament.
Haskell will travel on Friday to take on No. 19 College of the Ozarks (Mo.) to try and split the season match up with the Bobcats who had previously beat the Lady Indians in Lawrence, KS back in January. On Saturday, the Indians will travel to Arkansas to take on Central Baptist College to finish out the season.
The Indians are led by senior guard Jenine Coriz (Cochiti Pueblo) who currently leads the conference into two statistical categories, she leads in assists (4.35) and steals (3.39). Jenine also averages (14.89) points per game followed by Keli Warrior (Ponca Tribe) who averages (12.88) points per game.
The NAIA will have two more polls before selecting the 32 teams that will participate in the 2015 NAIA Division II National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa March 11th through 17th.
