(Sterling, KS) – Sterling College stayed right on the heels of Haskell Indian Nations University throughout Wednesday’s game. However, it took a late 11 – 2 run in the fourth quarter before Haskell was finally able to shake loose the Warriors close ties and post a 63 – 53 victory in Sterling. Even though the Indians won by a ten-point margin, it was not an easy win.
Sterling had their own ten-point advantage early in the second quarter but Haskell fought their way back to be within one at the break. Down the stretch, free throws were also a plus as the Indians hit 10-of-13 from the line. Tyler Sumpter led all scorers with 14 points while Cerissa Honena-Reyes had 12.
