Haskell Indian Nations University Women’s Basketball Team Remains Ranked No. 18 in Latest NAIA Division II Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Haskell Indian Nations University women’s basketball team remained solid in the No. 18 spot in the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday. This is the third straight poll that the Lady Indians were ranked 18th.

Saint Xavier (Ill.) remains No. 1 for the second-straight poll. The fourth regular-season installment will be released on Jan. 12.

Haskell Season Highlights

  • Tyler Sumpter (Paiute) is the current leading scorer for the Indians at 13.3 points per game. She ranks Number 10 in Division II in 3-Pt Fg Made per Game (3.154)
  • Haskell as a team is ranked 4th in the nation in total steals (201)
  • Haskell ranks Number 10 in Division II in Total 3-Pt FG Made (138)
  • The Indians are (14-3) on the season and is the best start under head coach Shane Flanagan

Poll Methodology:

• The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions.
• The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
• The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low ratings) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appears on.
• Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
