Haskell Indian Nations University Women’s Players Selected to All-MCAC Women’s Teams; Jenine Coriz Named MCAC Defensive Player of the Year

(Lawrence, KS) – Select Haskell Indian Nations University women’s basketball players were named to the All-MCAC conference and scholar athletes teams it was announced today by the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Haskell women’s team had their best regular season conference record to date, since joining in the NAIA, at (20-8, 9-5) and earned the #2 seed in the upcoming MCAC North Conference tournament on February 27th.

Highlighting the Indians squad for conference honors was senior guard Jenine Coriz (Cochiti Pueblo) who was named the MCAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. Jenine was also named to the All-MCAC team as well.

Joining Jenine on the first team was last year’s MCAC Freshman of the Year Keli Warrior (Ponca Tribe). In her sophomore campaign, Keli averaged 12.8 points per game and pulled down an average 6.5 rebounds per game.

Another big highlight was head coach for the Lady Indians Shane Flanagan (Pueblo) was named the MCAC Coach of the Year for the fourth year coach. The late Phil Homeratha was the last women’s coach to be named MCAC coach of the year.
