(McPherson, KS) – The Haskell Indian Nations University women’s volleyball team traveled Friday to Central Christian College to play in a triangular where they were able to pull back-to-back wins over William Penn University (25-17, 25-16, 26-24) and host Central Christian (25-16, 25-15,25-15).
In the first match versus William Penn University, out of Oskaloosa Iowa, the Indians were led by Senior middle hitter Aspen Sheperd (Navajo) who had a game high 13 Kills, Cailey Lujan 8 kills , Alliyah Richards and Raquel Archie who had 5 kills apiece. Shayla Yazzie had a game high 22 digs.
In the second match versus tournament host Central Christian College the Lady Indians were led by freshman Cailey Lujan who had a game high 10 kills followed by Alliah Richards with 7 kills. Racquel Archie and Aspen Sheperd each had 5 kills a piece. Again, Shayla Yazzie had a game high 25 digs.
The two wins move the young Indians squad to (10-11) on the season and (5-2) in conference play where they currently sit in 3rd place.
Then Lady Indians will travel home to host Graceland University on October 15th at 2:00 PM CST at Coffin Sports Complex.
