(Lawrence, KS) – The Haskell Indian Nations University Lady Indian volleyball squad went on the road for the first time in conference action this season and came away with a split weekend versus the College of the Ozarks ( L-20-25,25-18,21-25,25-17,17-15) and Central Baptist College (W-17-25,19-25,20-25) to improve to (1-2) in the MCAC conference and (9-11) overall on the season.

Aspen Sheperd (Navajo) added 19 kills and Nicole Curley (Navajo) contributed 15 on the evening for the Indians. Defensive specialist Skye Norwood (Choctaw) frustrated the Bobcats all night by amassing a total of 33 digs in the match. Just a few weeks ago, she was named the MCAC Defensive Specialist of the week.
The Lady Indians traveled the next day to Central Baptist in Arkansas where the battle continued on the home court of the Mustangs. The Indians came out on top taking the match in 3. Once again, middle hitter Shepherd and outside hitter, Runs-Through lead the team with kills. 9 for Shepherd and 8 for Runs-Through.
Next on the list will be home court advantage where the Haskell fans will fill the stands to cheer their Indians on against Peru State (non-conference). This homecoming match will not only be the “DIG PINK” night in support of breast cancer awareness but it will also be in recognition of Alumni!
Head Coach Nana Allison-Brewer (Navajo) and the Indians would love your support, so wear your pink and be ready to cheer on your Indians!
