Howlingwolf signs letter of intent with Arkansas-Monticello

Eastern Oklahoma State College’s Demetra Howlingwolf (Cheyenne & Arapaho tribes) signed a letter of intent to play basketball next year, 2012-2013, at the University of Arkansas-Monticello. The sophomore from Clinton, Okla. led the Lady Mountaineers in points during the 2011-2012 season, averaging 13 points and 3.5 assists per game. She was named as an honorable mention to the All-Conference Team for the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference.

“My experience at Eastern has been great and I’ve enjoyed every moment,” Howlingwolf said. “I want to thank my teammates, coaches and family and I look forward to continuing my basketball career at Arkansas.”

Eastern head coach, Amber Taylor said Howlingwolf was a leader both on and off the court. “Demetra embodies everything that we emphasize in our program, being a student first and an athlete second,” Taylor said. “I think Arkansas is getting a great basketball player and a phenomenal person. I thank Demetra for her dedication not only to basketball, but also to Eastern Oklahoma State. She will be missed.

A benefit dance for Howlingwolf is being planned for July 14, 2012, location to be announced. For more information contact Margaret Howlingwolf (580) 309-4669 or Irene Hayes at (580) 214-1485.
