Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle women’s basketball team suffered a 65-54 loss against George Washington on Sunday afternoon at John Glaser Arena.
With the result, both teams even their record at 1-1 in Atlantic 10 action.
How It Happened:
- Redshirt Sophomore Ashleigh Connor scored the first five Explorer points of the game, as both teams traded baskets in the first quarter, which featured four lead changes and three ties.
- The Revolutionaries jumped out to a 20-15 lead after the first quarter and outscored the Explorers 13-7 in the second period to take a 33-22 halftime lead.
- The Explorers scored the first five points of the second half on a bucket by freshman Joan Quinn and a three by graduate student Jolene Armendariz to make it a two-possession game at 33-27 less than a minute into the third quarter.
- George Washington answered back and outscored La Salle 22-15 in the third quarter to re-take a double-digit lead.
- Junior Anna Przyszlak led all scorers with seven points in the fourth quarter, as the Explorers outscored the Revolutionaries 17-10 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough, as GW held on for the victory.
Inside The Numbers
- Connor led the Explorers with 12 points and four assists, while Przyszlak and junior Ivy Fox added 10 points apiece.
- Junior Ayisse Magassa led the Explorers with seven rebounds.
- La Salle held a 33-18 advantage in bench points, but George Washington’s 44-24 edge in points in the paint made the difference on the afternoon.
