MANKATO, Minn. – Despite five Cougars scoring in double-figures, the UMN Morris men’s basketball team (4-8, 1-3 UMAC) fell at Bethany Lutheran (8-5, 3-1 UMAC), 96-86, Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Vikings held a one-point lead over Cougars heading into halftime at 37-36.
- The Cougars opened the second-half with a 9-3 run to take a 45-40 lead with 18:22 to play in regulation.
- The two teams continued to keep things close as the score remained within five points for the first 10 minutes of the second-half.
- Leading 76-71 late in the second-half, the Vikings used a 17-2 run to build a 20-point lead over the Cougars with 3:10 to play.
- The Vikings held off the Cougars down the stretch to secure the 96-86 victory.
NOTABLES
- James Pendleton (Dakota) led the Cougars with 21 points.
- Jaret Johnson and Dillon Haider each tallied 17 points.
- Ian Carlin and Nick Peterson scored 10 points each. Along with his 10 points, Peterson finished the game with nine rebounds.
