Jasmine Olivar (San Carlos Apache) Provided 12 Points for Pacific University as Boxers fall to Southwestern (TX)

A day after hanging nearly 100 points against Concordia (Texas), the Pacific women’s basketball team got off to an ice cold start Saturday, resulting in a 61-49 loss to Southwestern (Texas) Saturday in the Ken Schumann Classic.

The Pirates raced out to a 12-0 lead before Shaade Williams scored Pacific’s first points on a fast break layup with 2:22 remaining in the first quarter.

The Boxers scored just seven points in the first quarter and went into halftime trailing 27-18. 

Emily Holsan knocked down a 3-pointer to get Pacific within six points, 29-23, with 8:51 remaining in the third period. 

Down 11 points with 7:56 remaining in the game, the Boxers went on a 5-0 run to again get within six points, but that’s as close as Pacific would get.

The Boxers shot just 29.1 percent from the field in the loss. Holsan finishes with 20 points, four rebounds and two steals to lead Pacific.

Pacific 98, Concordia 62

The Boxers opened the Ken Schumann Classic Friday night with an offensive explosion, lighting up the scoreboard with 27 points in the first quarter to run away with the blowout win.

Pacific added 32 points in the second period to lead 59-28 at halftime.

The Boxers shot 73.3 perfect from the field in the victory and made 20 of 21 free throw attempts. 

Williams filled up the stat sheet, finishing with 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. 

Brookelynn Burke had 16 points, five rebounds and two steals.

Lindsey Barden added 14 points to also finish in double digits.

Jasmine Olivar and Anya Henderson provided 12 and 10 points off the bench.
