Louie-McGee, a wide receiver and punt returner, has started in all eight games this season, but his presence hasn’t been felt much throughout the year. That changed on Saturday.
Louie-McGee caught five passes for 87 yards and one touchdown, his second of the season and his first since the second game of the year, against Drake. He ran once for 36 yards, and he had a potential touchdown pass go off his fingertips in the back of the end zone on a pass that was slightly overthrown.
On special teams, Louie-McGee returned three punts for 48 yards, including a long of 32 yards on one that looked like the 5-foot-9, 180-pounder would return for a score before he was taken down by 6-foot-7, 300-pound Braxton Jones. He returned another punt 91 yards for a touchdown, but it was called back because of a holding penalty.
“I was upset, but I wasn’t really because I know there’s dudes out there working their tails off for me (to) get a score on the board,” Louie-McGee said. “I can’t complain. Those guys work hard. I was just happy to be out there. … It was awesome.”
