by Klamath Falls, Ore. – Oregon Tech tied school records with 35 assists and 70 rebounds in a 118-76 win over New Hope Christian Saturday night at Danny Miles Court. The Deacons move to 3-12 on the season, while Oregon Tech improves to 6-3 in their record. Tech hits the road to begin there CCC play on December 9th against Northwest Christian University.
Off the tip, the Owls controlled the ball and looked to attack the hoop, starting the game with a 9-2 run before the Deacons settled into a rhythm of their own. The visiting team would work to bring the game within two points at 13-11, before the Owls would make consecutive defensive stands and stretch the lead again with 10-2 run. A timeout called by the Deacons to get reorganized would see the score at 23-13 in favors of the home team.
The Owls would continue attacking the hoop and never look back, as they would outscore the Deacons in the first half two to one with a halftime score of 61-29. The Owls were lead in scoring by Yellow Owl (Blackfeet/Yakama Tribes) with 19 points in the half, while also seeing ten other team members contributing to the scoring. New Hope Christian was lead in scoring at the half by senior guard Isiah Large with 10 points.
The second half of play would see the Owls pick up where they left off, as they came out of the break on a 12-5 scoring run. Both teams would continue working to find the hoop through the half. The Owls would continue to stretch their lead as the game wore on. The second half would come to a close with the score 118-76.
Yellow Owl would finish the night for Tech with 25 points, while Tanner Manselle, Brandon Halter, Chris Faust (Pictured by Kelly Caleb) and freshman Seth Erickson would each put up double digit points. Manselle would also add 14 rebounds to his 16 points to earn a double-double.
New Hope would conclude the game with Isiah Large continuing to lead his team with a total of 26 points on the night. Senior Steven Share would come off the bench for the Deacons to add 12 points of his own.
