LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -Mariya Moore tied a career high with 22 points No. 7 Louisville was tested early in its Atlantic Coast Conference debut before pulling away for a 75-48 win over Georgia Tech on Friday night.
Moore, a freshman forward and the team’s leading scorer, eclipsed her season average in the first half with 14 points, including nine of the first 10 for the Cardinals (13-1, 1-0). Moore was 9 of 12 from the field with eight assists.
Aaliyah Whiteside led Georgia Tech (10-5, 0-1) with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Kaela Davis hit just 1 of her first 14 shots for Georgia Tech. The preseason Wooden Award finalist finished with 11 points, well off her scoring average of 21.2 points a game. She finished 2 of 15 and fouled out with 4:39 to play.
Jude Schimmel finished the game with 8 Points, 6 rebounds and added 2 steals to increase her ACC leagued leading total to (38).
Louisville will now go on the road for the first time in the new conference on Sunday, January 4th to take on Pittsburgh in another ESPN3 showing at 2:00 PM EST
