The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Monday morning that long snapper James Winchester (Choctaw) has signed a contract extension.
Winchester, who originally entered the NFL as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013 out of the University of Oklahoma, just finished his second season with the Chiefs. He originally signed with the team as a free agent on March 12, 2015.
Under the direction of special teams coach Dave Toub, Winchester has helped lead one of the NFL’s most successful special teams units over the past couple of seasons. He had a key fumble recovery in Week 12 against the Denver Broncos on a muffed punt.
