Durango, Colorado – The Cowgirls went on the road and grabbed a 64-52 mid-week win over Fort Lewis on Tuesday evening. With the win, NMHU improves to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Cowgirls took the lead for good 18-16 late in the opening quarter and never looked back on Tuesday night. They outscored the Skyhawks 22-14 in the fourth quarter to cement their second consecutive win.
Juliana Aragon poured in a game high 24 points and added three assists and five steals for NMHU. Kapiolani Anitielu had 15 points and nine rebounds.
Eva Ongoongotau grabbed a career high 10 rebounds for the Cowgirls.
NMHU’s defense forced 21 Fort Lewis turnovers and converted them into 14 points.
The Cowgirls out rebounded the Skyhawks 38-37.
