Emporia State wins 22nd straight home game
January 3, 2015-Kelsey Barnwell (Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma) scored a career high 25 points to lead top ranked Emporia State to a 99-57 win over Lincoln on Saturday afternoon in White Auditorium. With the win the Lady Hornets improved to 11-0 on the season, 4-0 in the MIAA.
Emporia State was on fire early, taking a 15-2 lead at the 17:00 mark of the first half. The lead reached 33 with 3:04 left at 54-21 on a Barnwell three-pointer before the Lady Hornets settled into a 56-27 lead at the break.
The lead never dropped below 27 points in the second half as Emporia State won their 22nd straight game in White Auditorium.
Barnwell was joined in double figures by Addie Lackey with 12 points and Kelly Moten and Megan Holloway with 11 each. Merissa Quick added nine points, nine rebounds and five blocks. As a team Emporia State shot 56.9% from the field and limited the Blue Tigers to just 25.8% shooting while blocking 14 shots.
Emporia State will be back in action on Monday night when they take on Lindenwood. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 5:30 p.m.
