by MANHATTAN, Kan. — Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team saw its losing streak extend to four games with its 52-51 overtime loss on Wednesday night to Kansas State in front of 4,211 fans inside Bramlage Coliseum.
With the loss, the Cowgirls fell to 12-7 overall and 2-6 in Big 12 play, while the Wildcats improved to 12-7 and 2-6.
OSU opened with the game’s first six points before K-State used an 11-1 run to grab the lead. The Wildcats would lead by as many as five before taking a 22-20 lead at the break.
K-State built its lead to nine at 36-27 with 13:36 remaining in the contest before the Cowgirls climbed back into the game over the next five minutes.
OSU regained the lead at the 7:44 mark on a 3-pointer by Lakota Beatty (Caddo/Lakota/Gros Ventre)and led by three on two different occasions in the game’s final three and a half minutes. After a free throw by K-State’s Ashia Woods knotted the game at 46 apiece, Beatty’s runner in the game’s closing seconds missed to send the game into overtime.
The Wildcats scored the first four points of the extra frame before Beatty again tied the contest at 51 with two minutes remaining with another 3-pointer. Neither team would score again until Haley Texada’s free throw with four seconds left put K-State in front by one.
Beatty banked in a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer, which was initially ruled good before being overturned after a monitor review determined the shot came after time had expired.
Woods led all scorers with 18 points, while Beatty paced OSU with 14. Liz Donohoe added 13 for the Cowgirls.
