Lauren Schad (Cheyenne River Sioux) finishes with 15 Kills as Toreros Topple Long Beach State 3-1

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Behind a balanced offensive attack that saw four different Toreros record double-digit kills, the 10th-ranked University of San Diego women’s volleyball team picked up a 3-1 win over Long Beach State University Friday evening in a non-conference match at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the 25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21 win, the Toreros improve to 6-2 overall, run their winning streak to four, and remain perfect at home with a 4-0 record. With the loss, the 49ers fall to 6-6 overall, and saw their streak of five consecutive matches of reaching five sets come to an end.

Senior outside hitter Lisa Kramer led the USD offense with 22 kills, while hitting .264 and picking up one dig. Lauren Schad (Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe) had 15 kills, while hitting .500, and she chipped in with three blocks. Lauren Fuller posted a double-double, as she had 13 kills, and recorded 11 digs.Jayden Kennedy was the final Torero in double digit kills with 10, while hitting .318. Kristen Gengenbacher also notched a double-double with 33 assists and 15 digs, while Hunter Jennings paced the USD defense with 23 digs.

As a team, USD hit for a .323 clip, while the 49rers hit .220. USD recorded 71 digs, to LBSU’s 60, but the 49ers did out block USD, 12.0-5.0.

For LBSU, Nele Barber led the way with 15 kills, while Ashley Murray added in 11 kills and Hailey Howard had 10 kills. Barber and Howard both posted double-doubles as Barber had 12 digs, and Howard had 13 digs.
