ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women’s basketball team had three members of the team voted onto an All-UMAC squad, as well as an individual winner of a Sportsmanship Award in the conference’s yearly honors, released on Monday morning.
Lexus Eagle Chasing (Omaha/Sioux) repeated as a First Team All-UMAC selection, while teammates Jay Kwateh and Jadyn Sondrol were Honorable Mention All-UMAC. Kwateh also was named the UMAC Defensive Player of the Year, a new award introduced by the conference this season. Lexie Winter was the team’s representative for the UMAC Sportsmanship Award.
Eagle Chasing, a senior from Rapid City, S.D., did it all in 2021-22 for Minnesota Morris. In 25 games, Eagle Chasing led the Cougars in scoring at 14.8 points per game and was second on the team in rebounds (5.2 per game), assists (2.2 per game), and steals (2.3 per game). She also saved some of her best performances for the end of the season, scoring 20 points in back-to-back games to close out the regular season, then leading the Cougars in scoring in each of their three UMAC Tournament games, scoring 23 in the quarterfinals against the University of Wisconsin-Superior, 19 in the semifinals against Bethany Lutheran College, and 16 in the UMAC championship game against North Central University. Eagle Chasing reached the 1,000-point mark for her career two weeks ago and ends the season with 204 steals, a number that ranks second all-time in Cougar history.
