FORT WORTH, Texas—Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team closed out its two-game road swing on Wednesday evening with a 64-63 loss against TCU inside Schollmaier Arena.
Lauren Fields scored the first five points of the game to stake OSU to the early lead. Lexy Keys extended the margin to 10-2 halfway through the quarter with a 3-pointer before an Abbie Winchester layup made it a 7-0 run and forced a TCU timeout.
The Horned Frogs responded with a 6-0 run to get within four. However, Fields scored the next six of the game to rebuild the Cowgirl lead.
OSU would lead, 18-12, through the first quarter of action.
The Cowgirls started quickly again in the second with the first five points, capped by another trey from Keys, before TCU answered with the next four.
TCU cut the deficit to a possession at 27-24 with a pair of free throws at the 2:30 mark. Keys answered with five in a row and Fields converted an old-fashioned 3-point play to move OSU back in front, 35-24.
The Cowgirls would lead, 35-27, at the break.
In the third, Fields scored the first six points to extend the lead to 41-27 before the Frogs scored five in a row to get the margin back into single digits.
TCU used a 7-0 run over a 72-second stretch to get within 44-40 with 4:33 to go in the period. Fields stopped the run with her fourth 3-pointer of the contest.
The Horned Frogs reeled off a 7-0 run to move in front, 49-47, with two minutes to go in the quarter.
N’Yah Boyd drilled a 3-pointer with one second remaining to pull OSU within one at 51-50 heading into the final stanza.
In the fourth, Macie James hit consecutive baskets to tie the score at 54 apiece before the Frogs moved back in front with 5:37 to go.
Leading by one, TCU got a layup with 17 seconds left to go in front, 63-60.
Fields, who finished with a career high 23 points in the contest, drilled another 3-pointer with nine seconds left to tie the game.
However, TCU made a free throw with two seconds left to decide the game.
