STILLWATER, Okla.—Oklahoma State’s women’s basketball team knocked off UT Arlington, 61-46, on Friday night in front of 2,073 fans inside of Gallagher-Iba Arena to register its 200th win under head coach Jim Littell.
Littell joins Dick Halterman as the only coaches in program history to achieve the feat.
In the first, OSU used a 7-0 run to take the early lead and got 10 points in the first five minutes from Lauren Fields to fuel the offense.
OSU used another 9-0 spurt to extend the margin to 20-8 with three minutes to go in the period. However, the Lady Mavs would post the final four points of the frame to trim the margin to eight.
The Cowgirl offense cooled in the second quarter with OSU missing its first nine shots, allowing UTA to cut the margin to five at 21-16 halfway through the period. Lexy Keys (Cherokee) drilled a 3-pointer with a minute left to extend the margin to eight and OSU would eventually take a 31-23 lead into the halftime locker room.
Fields would score 15 points in the first 20 minutes.
UTA opened the second half with the first 10 points to take the lead at 33-31 at the 5:36 mark. Keys would answer with a trey on OSU’s next trip to put the Cowgirls back in front. The Cowgirl sophomore would add another trey with four minutes to go to push the margin back to four.
Fields would get a steal and feed to Kassidy De Lapp as time expired to give the Cowgirls a 45-37 lead heading into the final quarter.
The Cowgirls got a Taylen Collins layup to stretch the lead to 50-38 with six minutes remaining in the contest.
Fields matched her career high with 23 points and was joined in double figures by Keys, who finished with 11 on the night.
