STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — Michael Weathers scored 16 points and Cameron McGriff added 14 to lead a balanced Oklahoma State attack that downed Colonial Athletic Association champs Charleston, 70-50, on Sunday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowboys used a 33-5 mid-game spurt to separate from the Cougars.
Thomas Dziagwa scored 14 points and Lindy Waters, III (Kiowa/Cherokee) added 12 points and pulled down 5 rebounds as five Cowboys reached double figures.After trailing by six points early, Charleston (3-1) opened its biggest lead of the game, 26-18, with 4:29 to play in the first half on a basket by leading scorer Grant Riller, who came in averaging 23 points per game but made just 2 of his 14 shots.
But that would be the Cougars’ final field goal of the half. Oklahoma State finished with a 12-1 run to take a 30-27 advantage into intermission.
The Cowboys opened the second half with 11 unanswered points and took their biggest lead of the game, 51-31, with 13:06 to play.
