Louisville Women’s Basketball Making Two Big Monday Appearances on ESPN; Jude Schimmel Begins Final Season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women’s basketball team is poised to make two appearances on ESPN2’s Big Monday, presented by Verizon, the network announced Wednesday.

Louisville, entering its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, first appears on Big Monday on the road on Feb. 2 at Duke. Tip at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C., is set for 7 p.m. The two programs have met twice in series history, with each program winning once. The Cardinals defeated the Blue Devils 73-66 in the Felpausch Classic on Nov. 24, 1991 in East Lansing, Mich.

Louisville returns to the Big Monday stage on Feb. 23, when it travels to Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. The Cardinals and Fighting Irish are scheduled to take part in their 15th meeting at 7 p.m. in a Play 4Kay contest in Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.

All Big Monday telecasts will also be available through WatchESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 or Xbox One to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.

The team boasts five seniors, including Indian Country’s very own Jude Schimmel (Umatilla) who played in 33 contests last season and started in five of them. Jude averaged 5.5 assists and 3.5 assists per game and finished second on the team in steals (54). In post-season, she posted double-digit points in consecutive games in the NCAA Tournament.
