Story of the Game:
The MSU-Northern Skylights won their home opener against Dickinson State University 75-58 on Tuesday in Havre, Montana. The Skylights took the lead early in the game winning the first quarter 16-14. The Blue Hawks were able to tie it up early in the second quarter. Northern took off and scored 13 unanswered points. The score was 38-25 going into halftime. Throughout the second half, the Skylights were able to keep a good lead.
Individual Stats:
All Skylights that played scored a point. The Skylights were led by L’Tia Lawrence (Assiniboine/Sioux), who had a double-double 24 points and eleven rebounds. Ryley Kehr had a great game adding 15 points and six rebounds. Sydney Hovde had her first double-double for the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Blue hawks were led by Courtney Olson with 15 points and six rebounds. McKenzie Johnson had 12 points going 5-8 from the field. Lauren Baumberger added eight points on the night.
Stats of the Game:
The MSU-Northern Skylights shot a field goal percentage of 48, 50 percent from the arc, and 55 percent from the free throw line.
Dickinson shot 31 percentage from the field, 25 percent from the 3-point line, and 66 percent from the free throw.
