Lyle Thompson (Onondaga Nation) Earns First America East Player of the Week Honor this Season and Sixth of his Career

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After a conference opening victory, the UAlbany men’s lacrosse team swept the America East weekly awards with Lyle Thompson (Onondaga Nation) earning Player of the Week and Connor Fields being honored as Rookie of the Week.

This is Thompson’s first America East Player of the Week honor this season and sixth of his career.  Fields picks up his second Rookie of the Week award this year.

As a team, UAlbany has five America East weekly honors this season, including three Player and two Rookie awards.  The team swept the conference weekly honors back on February 23rd after the victory over Drexel with Blaze Riorden earning Player of the Week and Fields earning Rookie of the Week.

UAlbany is coming off a 17-15 victory at Stony Brook to open America East play for the team’s second-straight win.

Thompson earned a career day against Stony Brook, putting up a UAlbany single game record 10 assists, adding two goals for a 12-point day.  The recipient of four of those assists was Fields, who earned a career-high four goals, adding an assist for five points.

On Monday, UAlbany moved up two spots to #13 in the USILA Coaches Poll and remained at #11 in the Inside Lacrosse media poll.

The Great Danes travel to Buffalo to play Canisius on Tuesday, March 17th at 4 p.m. on Time Warner SportsChannel.
