DICKINSON, N.D.—The Presentation College Saints women’s basketball squad fell in NSAA action to the Dickinson State University Blue Hawks, 90-63.
How it Happened—
Jada Campbell (SO/Sioux Falls, SD) opened the scoring for the Saints on baskets as the Blue Hawks took an early 6-4 lead. Lynnae Mitchell (Navajo) made back-to-back free throws to bring the Saints within 5 before the Blue Hawks hit a 3-pointer to extend the lead to 8. Haylie Vallery (JR/Nacogdoches, TX) answered the 3-pointer with a 3-pointer of her own. The Saints were held scoreless for the remaining four minutes of the first quarter, as Mitchell would hit a free-throw as the Saints trailed 28-17.
After being held scoreless for the first two minutes, Jada Campbell hit a shot from beyond the arc. Campbell had a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 36-23 before the Blue Hawks hit a jumper after being held scoreless for over a minute. Aimee Campbell (FR/North Richland Hills, TX) would hit a basket before both teams were held scoreless for just under 2 minutes. Lynnae Mitchell would hit a 3-pointer before the Blue Hawks would end the half on a 4-0 run.
Mitchell scored the opening points for the Saints in the third quarter. Aimee Campbell ended the scoring drought in the third for the Saints hitting the front end of a free-throw attempt. Vallery hit a free-throw as the Saints trailed 72-46 at the end of the quarter.
Tone’ Oglesby (JR/Detroit, MI) hit a 3-pointer to open the scoring for the Saints in the fourth quarter. The Saints were held without a basket for nearly 3 minutes before Vallery made an old-fashioned 3-point play. A. Campbell would hit free-throws before Oglesby hit a three-point basket with just under 2 minutes remaining in action. Mitchell would hit the final basket of the game, on an assist from Hannah Rivero (SO/Houston, TX) as the Saints fell 90-63.
The Saints shot 35.2% from field goal range, while making 9 3-pointers in the contest. The Saints bench contributed to 21 points, while rebounding the ball 29 times. The Saints forced 7 steals in the contest.
